5 lug/ disc brake conversion!!
Posted by JP Parts Intl on
After a weekends worth of wrenching with the east side crew, we finally finished lowering and installing the 5 lug swap. Thanks for everyone that came out to help me with this project and special thanks to Gary and Kat for coping with me… I really appreciate the time and effort everyone put in. We installed mz6 front passenger brakes and rest p5 due to complications that came up along the installation process. I will be converting the front to full mz6 brakes once I get a replacement caliper bracket. Now I just need to get new tires for my...
Open mouth grill and swaybar progress…

Here are some recent progress pics of the open mouth grill. I just made some cuts to accommodate my sickspeed horns and get the face of the grill symmetric. I left a 1.2″ gap all around except for the 2 edges of the open mouth; 1.25″. Next up will be to apply the final layer of fiberglass and lock all the mesh in place. Minor progress pics of the grill and rear sway bar. After 4 hours of hand sanding I got the 2 sides of the grill to sit flush with the bumper. I never knew how much work went...
Mazda6 Brakes

I’m thinking of going with a set 04 mazda6 calipers, rotors n pads but looking at the pics they seem to be rusted a bit and the rotors will need to be resurfaced. The seller was good enough to send me some pictures of the parts before I made the trip to pick them up. Some more info about the calipers… It seems like i will need to rebuild the calipers just to be on the safe side since its been sitting for ~6 months. So the brake rebuild kits from centric parts seems to be pretty reliable and CHEAP...
Black & Beige, Black & Beige, Black & Beige…

I blacked out most of the interior and kept the light beige trim… It was fairly simple disassembling the panels, masking the cloth trim and painting. I used plastidip + clear coat combo for this and it came out just as expected. Here are some progress pics.. Masked off the cloth & beige trim after disassembling the panel. I took caution to the amount of layers i’d be putting on since people will be touching the panels often during daily use so I decided to go with 4 coats of plastidip + 3 coats of clear.. Ended up painting my...
Door lock problems…

My car started making grinding noises from the door panels when ever I try to lock the car. I’m not really sure how this happened since I never slam my doors hard or abuse it. I did some research and I have a big feeling its the white plastic gear that’s broken in the actuator… http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/attac…1&d=1225768045 Here’s a video of the noise it makes when I try to lock/unlock the doors. oh and all the other door locks aren’t responding when I press the key forb or manually press the switch on the door… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4BRBtc1j-A Seems like the door lock...
